Sitting mid-pack off the pace for the majority of the mile and sixteen distance, Gilded Splinters turned for home determined to catch the runaway front runner. Sent off as the favourite, the 3 year-old homebred filly of Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry didn’t disappoint as she drove past the leader at the wire to win by a neck.
After a slow start to her career earlier this year, Gilded Splinters, by Henrythenavigator out of the Fitzhenry’s Affirmed mare, Minnie’s Meadow, has had two wins and was placed second in her last three starts.
