Mr. Havercamp a debut winner

Oh Golly! I’m hot today!

The Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry bred and owned Mr. Havercamp made a bid a furlong out and drew clear of the field to win by 3 and a half lengths in his career debut in a seven furlong Maiden Special Weight at Woodbine.

Trained by Catherine Day Phillips, the 3 year-old Ontario-bred gelding by Court Vision out of the Fitzhenry’s mare Tennessee Lamb (Medaglia d’Oro), stalked the pace early on, drew clear in the stretch and was hand ridden past the wire by jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva.

This was the eighth win in 30 starts this season at Woodbine for Catherine Day Phillips who will be sending out Long Johns for owners Doug Anderson and Rita Eskudt in the seventh race on Saturday and Watch Me Strut for Catherine’s Kingfield Racing Stable and George Ledson in the Toronto Cup Stakes (Race 3) on Sunday.
