Two year-olds shine for trainer Catherine Day Phillips

A late run down the stretch by Watch Me Strut on Sunday, October 9, gave trainer Catherine Day Phillips her third win in as many days with three two-year-olds breaking their maiden at Woodbine.

Two year-old Financial Recovery lead the charge with a win in race 7 on October 7 in a 1 1/16 mile MSW on the turf for owners Narola LLC and Anderson Farms Ontario, Inc.

Followed by a win with Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry’s homebred Guy Caballero the next day, October 8 in a 1 1/16 mile MSW taken off the grass at Woodbine.

Catherine’s own Watch Me Strut completed the hat trick with an impressive stretch run to win by a half length in a 7f MSW on October 9 at Woodbine.

Owned by Catherine’s Kingfield Racing Stable, the two year-old gelding Watch Me Strut is by Strut the Stage – Fleet Kris (Northern Afleet) and was purchased for $7000 as a yearling by Catherine out of the 2015 CTHS Canadian Premier Sale.  He finished third in his first start on August 7.

Catherine will be sending out a pair of three year-olds on Wednesday night at Woodbine, Talk and Suspicion, bred and owned by Sean & Dorothy Fitzhenry, and Flashinthepants, bred and owned by Doug Anderson and Rita Eskudt.
