Dixie Moon wins the Carotene Stakes

Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry’s Dixie Moon (#3) prevailed against a determined Avie’s Mineshaft to win the 1-1/8 mile Carotene Stakes on the turf today Woodbine Racetrack. Today’s finish was a reverse outcome from when the fillies last met in the Wonder Where stakes in August.

It was Dixie Moon’s first win since winning the Woodbine Oaks in June and after having an off run in her last start, the Ontario Damsel, this win proved the talented filly was once again focused on her game in this race.

Ridden to victory by Jockey Eurico Rosa da Silva, the Carotene win improves the filly’s career statistics to 5 wins and 3 seconds in 12 career starts and more than $610,000 in earnings for the Fitzhenry’s homebred.  Under the guidance of trainer Catherine Day Phillips Dixie Moon represents her 20th win so far this season.
