Veil makes it Three Wins in a Row

Owner Andrew Rosen’s 5 year-old Hat Trick (JPN) mare, Veil, has come alive since her arrival at Trainer Catherine Day Phillips’ barn this year.

Bred by A.R. Enterprises in Kentucky, Veil started her season at Woodbine this Spring with a couple of seconds before breaking her maiden in a $61,000 Maiden Special Weight in July by 5 1/2 lengths on the Tapeta.

She stepped up to Allowance company for a win in August and today sprinted to a 3 3/4 length victory in an Allowance Optional Claiming both going 6 furlongs for purses of $61,000 each.  Jockey Javier Castellano was aboard for the win with regular rider, Eurico Rosa da Silva riding elsewhere in the race.

Catherine commented that the last time she put a saddle on for Javier Castellano was when he rode Jambalaya to a win in the G3 Bulleit Bourbon Pan American Handicap at Gulfstream Park in 2007.

Veil started her career racing at Gulfstream Park, Keeneland, Belmont Park and Saratoga and arrived at Woodbine a maiden and had not raced since July of 2017.
